Gov. Quinn Joined Rep. Yarbrough and Village Officials to Announce Restoration of CeaseFire Violence Prevention Funding

MAYWOOD, IL – State Rep. Karen Yarbrough (D-Maywood) was joined by Governor Pat Quinn and local mayors at the Maywood/Bellwood/Broadview CeaseFire headquarters in Maywood on Saturday, October 10 for a press conference to announce the restoration of most of the statewide funding for the innovative and successful violence prevention program.

"The CeaseFire Program has proven its worth by saving countless lives through proactive efforts to intervene and stop violence before it starts," Yarbrough said.  "Governor Quinn has shown his willingness to put people first by restoring their funding and I am excited to have him come to our community to see firsthand how important CeaseFire is to local residents."

In conjunction with the announcement, Governor Quinn received a tour of the local CeaseFire headquarters and talked with local officials and residents.
