Safety is everyone's concern,
but I am especially concerned for those who are most
vulnerable and easily exploited. As state
representative for the 7th District, I have worked
diligently to enact laws that discourage crime, increase the
penalties for certain types of crimes, and provide funding
to assist formerly incarcerated individuals in becoming
responsible and productive members of society.
There are many different types
of crimes perpetrated everyday, across all walks of life.
Below is a summary of some of my efforts to help protect the
people of Illinois.
Protecting Our Children
Two years ago, I voted to require all persons apply to work
at a school to undergo a federal criminal background check.
To further strengthen the law, I supported
House Bill 3451, which
requires potential employees to also be screened against
Illinois' Statewide Sex Offender Database.
Protection Against Sexual
Offenders I sponsored
House Bill 2386, which allows for lifetime
supervision of our state's most dangerous sexual predators.
Both HB 3451 and HB 2386 were signed into law.
