Since taking office, I have
committed myself to securing state resources to improve
conditions within the communities
that make up the 7th District, including the following:
|
Construction of a
pedestrian bridge connecting Forest Park and
Maywood over the Des Plaines River. The
bridge offers new options for local foot travel
and allows pedestrians to directly access
circuit court facilities on the Maywood side of
the river. The pedestrian bridge will also
connect to the Illinois Prairie Path, which will
allow bicyclists to continue riding all the way
to Elgin after disembarking from the train. |
|
Responding to the
concerns of local residents, I worked with the
Illinois Department of Transportation to
redirect a $1 million grant to move a traffic
signal closer to the entrance of Proviso East
High School. This change increases the
safety of students crossing the heavily
trafficked RT 171, which runs directly in front
of the school. |
|
The Addison Creek
floodplain has caused problems for many
residents of the 7th District. I worked to
create a commission charged with restoring the
floodplain, reducing flooding and convincing the
Federal Emergency Management Agency to
reclassify the floodplain's boundaries. |
I am also pleased to have
brought home resources for the following projects:
CeaseFire
violence prevention program
Critical
infrastructure improvements for the Village of Maywood
Repaving the
parking lot of the Maywood Public Library
Alley repairs in
Broadview
Phase III alley
repaving in Bellwood
Improvements to
Hillside water tower
Streetscape
improvement in River Forest
Upgrade of Forest
Park's 911 dispatch system
General
improvements to the Oak Park Village Hall
Finally, I am pleased to
report that the 7th District will receive $23 million for 22 road improvement projects over
the next six years. As I said at the outset, I am
committed to bringing home state resources to improve the
quality of life in the 7th District.
